| CHS - Circular hollow sections |
|
CHS was the first and still the most common form of hollow section. It is used in a multitude of applications including engineering and other aesthetic and mechanical areas. CHS possess inherent traits such as aesthetics, functionality and engineering efficiencies that have been embraced for decades.
From an engineering perspective the constant clean lines and ductility, provide a very smooth surface appearance that is expressly exploited in many repetitive manufacturing applications. The lack of protruding edges and on these fully closed sections complements surface coatings such as electro-chroming and powder-coating, resulting in a high quality finished product.
Application areas:
- Structural and aesthetic uses in automotive, furniture, shopfitting, fencing and some limited low pressure fluid conveyancing applications.
Precision tube CHS is manufactured and tested to meet the requirements of the following specifications:
- TS21 – Low Carbon ERW Steel Tubing for General Applications
- TS22 – ERW Steel Tubing with Specified Mechanical Properties
- TS28 – Low Carbon Steel Tubing for use in Automotive Exhaust Systems
- TS30 – Low Carbon ERW Galvatube Steel Tubing for General Applications
- TS41 – Low Carbon ERW Steel Tubing for Fluid Carrying Applications
- AS1450 – Steel Tubes for Mechanical Purposes
