| In December 2006, OneSteel and Smorgon Steel announced a proposal to establish a Joint Venture incorporating OneSteel's Structural Pipe & RHS businesses with Smorgon's tubular business. The formation of this Joint Venture allows OneSteel and Smorgon Steel to develop an improved supply and service offer to all pipe and tube customers.
The JV (Australian Tube Mills Pty Ltd) is a stand-alone company separate from both OneSteel and Smorgon Steel, with assets owned 50/50 by OneSteel and Smorgon Steel. Management and Directors have been drawn from both OneSteel and Smorgon Steel.
The JV has been formed by combining the OneSteel Newcastle and Somerton Structural Pipe & RHS facilities with Smorgon Steel’s Acadia Ridge facility.
The JV has the trading name Australian Tube Mills PTY LTD (ACN 123 160 172)
